Bühler’s Innovative Continuous Mixing Process Contributes To Automotive Battery Industry Breakthrough

The inauguration of Tianjin Lishen Battery Co’s latest battery plant in Suzhou with four industrial-scale production lines for electrode slurries from Bühler represents a major achievement for Lishen and Bühler. The new plant has a current capacity of 4GW/h, which will be expanded to 15GWh in the very near future. According to Lishen, the new generation of cells is expected to increase the range of electrically powered vehicles by one-third. “This new generation of batteries offers breakthrough energy densities and will create a new standard in the market,” said Mr Sun, General Manager at Lishen.

Bühler’s continuous mixing process is unique in the industry. It allows raw material dosing, premixing, kneading, fine dispersing and degassing in a single device. The technology has a decisive impact on the quality and performance of this latest generation of batteries, with clear advantages over the traditional badge processing method.

At the inauguration ceremony, Bühler was awarded Best Equipment Supplier. Samuel Schär, CEO of Bühler’s Advanced Materials business, accepted the award and said in his speech, “The success of the Lishen Suzhou project is only the start of our journey. We seek a win-win cooperation and continued joint development.”

Bühler will be exhibiting at The Battery Show Europe 2018 at booth #232.
